First impressions - FFS Beauty Tanning (+ discount code)

As a tanning virgin, I am so excited to try out tanning for the first time! Yes, you heard me, I am almost 27 and never used fake tan before. I had always worried if I’d turn out looking like an Oompa Loompa! When the lovely FFS Beauty team reached out to gift me their tanning products, I thought, who is better suit to review a tanning range than a first-timer?

About FFS

You may have seen from my blog post or Instagram that I love FFS Beauty’s razor subscription service – whilst I have been lucky enough to work with them, I actually am a subscriber for almost a year now! FFS Beauty is all about the fuss-free, cruelty-free life. From natural deodorant, to shaving, and now tanning, they have got you covered. I love that you can buy a one-off gift set or opt for an on-going subscription to suit your needs (skippable, easy to cancel). P.S. code ‘BLG_CINMI’ for £3 off!

About the tanning range

FFS Beauty have extended their 3-step shaving system and added this vegan, cruelty-free, eco-friendly fake tan range for their customers. How so? The tanning mousse is made in the UK to reduce their carbon footprint; the bottle is made with 100% recycled plastic, so you can have a gorgeous glow with a peace of mind.

I was kindly gifted the Classic Glow Set in medium. Priced at £22 (worth £30), this set includes a 220ml self-tanning mousse, a velvet mitt and a kabuki brush. Again, as a tanning virgin, it is fantastic that it comes with an easy-to-follow pictured guide so it is unlikely for me to mess up *all things crossed*. You can check out my Instagram for an unboxing video to see it in action, but do read on for my first impressions!

Self-Tanning Mousse

This is a foamy, light-weight mousse that dries quite quickly. However I feel that you definitely have time to blend it into your skin, as I was able to take a couple of pictures with a 10-second timer before it starts to dry. It is infused with avocado & coconut fragrance, which I can say it is true to its description. For comparison, I had my neighbour (who really knows her fake tans), socially distanced, to smell the foam and she said it smelled similar to a major Australian brand which she loves.

I have yet to try this but it was very easy to use the kabuki brush to buff in so I can see why it promises a streak-free finish. A little goes a long way – see picture below from the kabuki brush section. This product should develop within 4-6 hours and should last for 5-7 days. I love that the formula uses a natural tanning agent, derived from plant sources, it does not contain parabens or sulphates, so it is kind to skin.

Luxury Velvet Tanning Mitt

My god, this is soft! I love that it is double-sided, reusable and washable. The inside is protected with a film so it won’t transfer any product to your hands. I don’t like single-use products as they make me feel like a crappy human! Comes with minimal packaging so you can recycle the outer box.

Kabuki Brush

This brush is just as soft too! Whilst the mitt is good, the brush is for buffing tan into harder to reach areas for precision and to distribute tan evenly. I like that it hasn’t got a long handle and you just haven’t got to stain your hands!

Final thoughts/ discount

I am excited to finally join the 21st century and try fake tan. I have luckily never had any reactions with FFS Beauty’s products and having done a patch test with the tanning mousse from my photo-shoot more than 24 hours ago, I can say that it is definitely all mission go for me. I don’t get what people mean by ‘biscuit smell’ but this one smells just like coconut which is just about a bit too delicious! As it is foamy and light-weight, I think this is very promising – I love their natural deodorant and their razors, so I have high expectations for this one too. Will try this over the weekend and come back after 2 weeks to give you a full report.
