Garnier - Watermelon Hair Food – First Impressions

Did someone say nice smelling, affordable hair products? Garnier did it again – I was kindly gifted their plumping watermelon hair food set today. This 3-step hair routine is formulated to plump and give life to fine hair.

About Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food

The Hair Food collection has 5 sets made for different hair types –

  • For dry hair: Banana

  • For frizzy hair: Coconut

  • For damaged hair: Papaya

  • For normal hair: Aloe vera

  • For fine hair: Watermelon

The concept is straightforward – super food for the hair, therefore hair food! The hair food formulas are vegan and biodegradable. They contain no artificial colourants and no silicones. They use up to 98% natural origin ingredients – which you can see the percentage from their lids and a list of the ingredients on the packaging. What’s more, is that the bottles are made with 50% recycled plastic!

All of the sets (besides aloe vera) consist of a shampoo, conditioner and 3-in-1 hair mask.

About the Watermelon Hair Food

For someone who has fine (flat) hair, I am always on the hunt for volumizing products. This hair food collection was formulated to cleanse, plump and give life to hair like mine.

Whilst it’s called ‘Watermelon Hair Food’, it is actually blended with pomegranate. The result? Smelling absolutely stunning, like the banana set I was gifted last year! Comparing this collection to the banana set, I can tell you that the products textures are the same.

Let me list the individual products below and what I make of them. By the way, I have an unboxing video posted on my Instagram that you can see the products in action!

STEP 1 – Shampoo

You may not be able to tell from the picture below, but it is like its sister, it is a light-weight, gel-like liquid. A little goes a long way and will lather well. Goes foamy with very little water too. For 350ml, this bottle will last you a while.

STEP 2 – Conditioner

This has a creamy, thicker consistency. However, a little really does go a long way! It melts in your hand and will work into your hair like a dream. Rinses well too, you don’t have to waste time and water as some conditioners tend to do that.

STEP 3 – Hair mask

Not going to lie, this hair mask intrigues me the most. You can use it as a conditioner, or leave on for 3 minute as a mask, or use very little amount as leave-in conditioner. I am all for a lazy multi-use product, talk about getting bang for your buck! Its consistency is similar to the conditioner and will certainly glide through your hair.

So what do you think? I know I definitely cannot wait to write a full review. This gorgeous smelling collection will definitely make hair-washing less of a chore. Talk about instant mood booster!

The products are available to buy individually from Boots, Superdrug and other major retailers.

*PR/Gifted – opinion always 100% my own.
