My experience

Disclaimer, I have no eyes and arms coordination and suck at doing my own hair - I can just about braid my hair. It is also worth noting that my hair type is fine and quite straight and had been told by my hairdresser that I have a lot of hair!

Results - drying hair with the Duet Styler - apologies quality isn't the best!

I had timed myself drying my hair and it took 3.5 minutes for half a side of hair, that is with the tool running through the same section of hair 3 - 4 times. Usually, my whole hair would have been done and dusted with a rough dry with the GHD hairdryer. I believe that the fact that you have to section off the hair to dry off contributes to the factor that it took longer.

However, the result is very noticeable. I even asked my husband and he noted that my hair looked a lot straighter than it usually is when compare to a rough dry. I also noted that my hair is a lot less fizzy and less fly-aways. It successfully tamed my hair in under 10 minutes! It is as if I used a straightener to dry my hair but of course, minus the silliness and damage.

Only thing is you will have to practice and lift the hair up to get to the root.

  • Dry hair (straighten):

I like the blow-dry style face-framing sort of slight bend around the ends usually, as my hair is naturally quite straight and want volume. I wanted volume, and it delivered. I was so happy to show the hubby my results the first time I used it! The 'Shine Boost' button where it turns on the styling mode had not only made my hair looked so smooth and shiny, but just gave a salon-worthy blow-dry look that - no one will believe - achieved in about 5 minutes, with thanks to its wider plating. The effect also lasted most of the day without any hairspray on freshly washed hair, which we all know curls or bends are meant to be done on day-old hair, so I was chuffed! See results from my reels here.

  • Dry hair (curls):

I have to come clean here - some people have two left feet, I have two left hands. I never been able to curl my hair with straighteners, always used wands! It doesn't come with surprise that I watched a few Youtube tutorials and practiced a few times before I was semi-confident that I want to show you the results!

One thing is that the hot plates are wider, so you really have to twist it to ensure that you cover the ends of your hair or you could end up with weird looking hair! But this can easily be mitigated after one or two goes. And if you usually use a straightener to curl your hair, it's no issue anyways for you I am sure!

I am amazed that the Duet Style does not compromise the usual GHD standard - I have had my hair done with GHD many times and can say that this gives off the same long-lasting effect it has on hair as with their standard straighteners - of course with the right amount of finishing spray to aid. It didn't drop a lot for my freshly washed and dried hair that usually has curls that last a couple hours, which was a great bonus.

Bottom line

The Duet Style is retailed at £379 with up to 15% off your first order. It comes with a two-year warranty for a peace of mind.

It is hard to tell if the 'no heat damage' claim is true as it is not something that is greatly measurable by eyes but my hair didn't feel dry after each use, so I suppose that does count.

It takes double the time to dry your hair when comparing to a rough dry, however we are talking about 6 - 7 mins in total and the effect it gives off is worth the extra time. The shine it adds and how much straighter it looks off just drying wet hair!

Although the curling will take some practice to get there and cannot create a tight curl.

The bigger sized plates mean you can straighten a larger section of your hair to reduce the time to get ready, which is great if you are like me who underestimates the time it takes to get ready.

I would definitely recommend this.
